MCLAREN PARTNERS WITH LOCKHEED MARTIN SKUNK WORKS
LEGENDS OF AEROSPACE & AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES TEAM UP
McLaren have announced they are to collaborate with Skunk Works, Lockheed Martins Advanced Development Programs team.
It brings to the table high-tech rapid prototyping and development, along with its recently announced high speed design system. The system, initially developed for aviation, is now set to cross over into the exclusive end of the automotive industry.
The Skunk Works special projects department is responsible for some of the most iconic aircraft of the modern era, ranging from the Blackbird, F-117 Nighthawk and the F-35 Lightning II, which is still in active duty for several countries. More recently, the division was consulted to bring to life the conceptual Darkstar fighter craft, making its appearance in this year’s blockbuster movie, Top Gun: Maverick.
Currently there’s no word on what this partnership might deliver, but bleeding edge aviation technology, deployed commercially in the automotive world, gets us excited!
