The hotly-anticipated Dendrobium D-1 electric hypercar is to be built in the UK – and it promises to be something special.

Some of the stats being bandied about are simply astounding – the car is expected to produce an insane 1,800 bhp and 1,475lb feet of torque. It is also predicted to hit 60mph in a nippy 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed north of 200mph.

The original concept of this model with its standout futuristic design was revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, and it will also be showcased later this summer at the Salon Privé show at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire from 30 August to 1 September.

Although development of the car is still underway, Dendrobium Automotive is aiming for a total weight of 1,750kg with the whole body being made of carbon fibre. The flash doors open upwards and outwards in what the company calls a Bio-Aerial Locomotion design.

“We are developing what will be the most impressive all-electric hypercar,” said Chairman and CEO of Dendrobium Automotive Limited, Nigel Gordon-Stewart. “We are designing our own in-house, all-electric powertrain and we plan to use our own power storage cells moving to Solid State as and when the technology is reliable and financially viable.”

More details such as the rapid charge time will be revealed in due course.
